JAMIA NIZAMIA is an Arabic university established in 1872A.D (1292 Hijra) by Shaikhul Islam Hazrat Hafiz Mohammed Anwarullah Farooqui, Fazilath Jung who was also a tutor and minister for the sixth and seventh Nizam rulers. This university specializes in higher education in Islamic Studies and the Arabic language. It offers subjects like Tafseer (Quran interpretation), Hadith (Prophetic traditions), Fiqh (Islamic law), Logic, History, Philosophy, Humanities, and Social Studies. The university also provides research opportunities, including Ph.D. programs in Islamic Studies. A unique feature of this Jamia is that it offers free education, including boarding and lodging for its students.

During this span thousands of students and scholars of this university fanned out all over the world and occupied important positions. Some such great Scholars include world renowned Dr. Hameedullah, a great Islamic Scholar and author. The former Chief Minister of Hyderabad State Dr. B. Ram Kishan Rao is also one of the noted aluminies of this Jamia. The certificates awarded by this university are recognized by Osmania University, Hyderabad. Aligarh Muslim University and other foreign universities such as Jamia Azhar in Egypt, as well as universities in Mecca, Medina (Saudi Arabia), and Qatar. 

Jamia Nizamia also has a Darul-Ifta (an edict-issuing center) to address the daily religious and societal needs. The university boasts a magnificent library with more than 100,000 books, including rare manuscripts and Indian epics. Additionally, there is a computer center that provides training to graduates and postgraduates, helping them acquire technical education to face modern-day challenges.

The "Majlis Ishaat-ul-uloom" (Publication Cell), established by the founder himself, is responsible for publishing books on various Islamic subjects. These books are printed at the university's own press, known as "Abul Wafa Al-Afghani Printing Press."

Jamia Nizamia has also started a girls' college called "Kulliyatul Banat" to provide Muslim girls with higher education in subjects like Tafseer (Quran interpretation), Hadith (Prophetic traditions), Fiqh (Islamic law), and Arabic Literature. This college offers education up to the Doctorate (Ph.D.) level, giving Muslim women the opportunity to gain advanced knowledge in Islamic studies. The aim of Kulliyatul Banat is to empower Muslim girls with both religious and academic education, helping them contribute to society while staying rooted in their faith.
